In November 2009, the new Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) was officially implemented. In the past two years, the number of candidates has increased significantly. In 2010, the number of new HSK candidates was 123,977, and in 2011 it was 179,592, an increase of 45%. The new HSK has better adapted to the actual level of overseas Chinese learners, inspired more candidates to continue learning Chinese, and played a positive role in promoting the international promotion of Chinese.
